The structural scope of work involved the addition of two elevated rooms/areas behind the existing grandstands. These rooms were elevated up to the level of the existing press box and grandstands and a walkway was formed for access between the existing structure and the new areas. The superstructure was structural steel beams supported with load bearing cmu walls/towers. The cmu walls/towers also acted as the main lateral system for the new buildings acting as multi-sided shear walls. Both towers were supported on shallow spread footing foundations sized for bearing, overturning, and sliding resistance.
