Galveston College Health Services Center is a new three-story nursing health sciences building anticipated to be approximately between 40,000 and 70,000 square feet with new parking underneath a portion of the new build and a connector bridge to the adjacent existing building.
The super structure for this building consisted of conventional structural steel framing, beams and columns. The building is 3 stories with the upper floors being composite steel framing. The foundation system is auger-cast piles with pier caps. The lateral system is a series of strategically placed steel braced frames. Structurally this building has been hardened to meet the requirements for windstorm and impact-debris requirements.
